A Simple Clean Routine for Busy Families (That Actually Sticks)

ree

Real life > perfect routines

I make soap for real families (including mine)—people who need quick, reliable steps that feel good and don’t overcomplicate the day. Here’s a simple routine that works in busy seasons and school mornings alike.

Step 1: Pick “the bar” for the job

  • Everyday shower bar: Goat milk or gentle handmade bar in a scent the whole family likes.

  • Sink sidekick: A firm, long-lasting bar (tallow is great here).

  • Shave days: A dedicated shaving soap for cushion and glide.

Pro tip: Use a draining dish and let bars dry between uses. It’s the easiest way to make handmade last.

Step 2: Lock in moisture your way

Skin changes with weather, age, and activity. I keep options:

  • Goat Milk Lotion: Lightweight daily hydration—great after hand-washing.

  • Luxury Cream: Richer feel for dry spots (elbows, knees).

  • Whipped Tallow: Deep moisture days or winter skin.

Apply while skin is slightly damp after bathing; it helps seal in moisture.

Step 3: Freshen up, simply

  • Natural Deodorant Stick: Clean, straightforward, and easy to reapply.

  • Body Spray (clean scents): A quick, family-friendly refresh for gym bags and car rides.

  • Aromatherapy Rollers: Pocket-sized calm for hectic schedules.

Step 4: Make it easy to stick with

  • Set & forget: Keep a bar at each sink and shower.

  • Label the shelf: “Kids,” “Teen,” “Dad,” “Guest”—everyone knows what’s theirs.

  • Rotate scents: Keep it fun—citrus in the morning, cozy woods at night.

  • Refill basket: Store two backups; when you open one, add another to your cart.

For teens & sensitive seasons

Many families tell me they like starting with gentler bars and adjusting from there. If someone’s skin is having a moment, keep routines simple and fragrance-light. And remember: patch-testing is always a good idea.
